How Did You Get Warts in the First Place?

I have no idea how I got mine. I was only 9, and am not aware of anyone who had them. Obviously a friend must have, as they are transmitted via touch.

If you can pinpoint where and how you got yours, I would be very interested to hear about it. It would help with my further research and publications.

Basically,
  1. Warts are contagious and are spread by touching a wart and then touching elsewhere on your body, or touching somebody else.
  2. Small skin cuts or abrasions can make transmission easier.
  3. In the case of Genital Warts - it is a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease. I will be continuing my wart saga in a few blogs with information on Genital Warts. In the mean time you can always check out www.naturallyguaranteed.com/genitalwarts.html to get more info.
  4. If your immune system is depleted you may be more prone to catching the HPV (warts) virus. (I will blog a bit later on how to improve your immune system, and again other input will be greatly appreciated!)
  5. Once you have the warts virus, you can't get rid of it or cure it, but you can get rid of the warts. See my blog 'Freeze, Cut, Burn or Bust?...Not Quite' for wart treatment options.

Be aware that warts is a viral contagion. It is spread human to human - you can't get it from toads or frogs ;-)

It IS contagious... It IS treatable.

Alternative Treatments for Warts

For many people the term 'alternative', when referring to medication, rings alarm bells.

Why are alternative treatments called 'alternative'?
Complementary or alternative medicines or treatments are simply an 'alternative' as far as the medical community is concerned in that they do not accept it as a standard or conventional treatment.

Most wart treatments that do not involve burning, freezing or surgery, and which are prescribed by these self same prationers involve drugs, poisons or acids. They can have harmful side effects, but as they are tried and tested and approved by the FDA, the Medical Practioner is covered in the law. Personally, if I was a prescribing doctor, I would also make sure in this culture of sue or be sued, that I only prescribed medications which were approved for treatment by a higher authority.

How valid and effective are alternative treatments?
While some alternative medications certainly do come from cloud-cuckoo land, most are very legitimate. Many are simply based on natural and concentrated herbal or plant oil extraction, spcifically formulated , tried and tested. The fact that they have not been approved by the FDA, often due to the cost involved, can be concerning, but if you read the terms and conditions of these medications, read the promises attached and request the ingredients, most companies supplying these 'alternatives' are both happy to comply and scrupulous in the business ethics, delivery and customer service.

One such company which supplies a guaranteed natural 'alternative' wart treatment and wart removal product is www.naturallyguaranteed.com. The product can be found at www.naturallyguaranteed.com/warts.html

It works. It's guaranteed or your money back.

Freeze, Cut, Burn or Bust? Not quite...

I had warts as little kid. Only 4 relatively small warts at that.

I was pretty stressed about them. Mom took me a specialist who decided to try burning and freezing. He burned the 2 on my left hand and froze the 2 on my right hand. The freezing actually hurt worse than the burning. Both treatment sites ached for days, and I have the scars to this day. That was 26 years ago.

Today the traditional alternatives for warts treatment are vast, though you still need to be careful about what you choose:

  • burning (electrocautery) - has improved but will still cause scarring and is painful
  • freezing (cryosurgery) - also improved, but will cause scarring and is painful
  • surgical excision (cutting) - around 30-45% of warts removed this way will return
  • poisons (e.g. podophyllotixin) - warts can recur, needs to be administered by a professional, may have harmful side effects. Doseage must be carefully monitored. Can cause scarring
  • acids (e.g. TCA) - warts can recur. Doseage must be monitored. Can cause scarring. May have harmful side effects.

Or there are natural oil treatments that are very effective, and as you might expect from the fact that they are natural, they don't burn, scar or irritate. One such can be found at www.naturallyguaranteed.com/warts.html They also guarantee the same warts will grow back.
